FAQ

INSTALLATION

> Can I install Pergo vinyl on top of an existing floor?

Yes, Pergo Vinyl floors can be installed on concrete floors, as well as on existing wood floors and tiles. Carefully read the installation instructions. In case of a floating installation, it might be necessary to remove the existing floor covering or to level the subfloor. In the case of glue down installation, some preparation work will need to be done. In most cases the existing floor covering will have to be removed. It may be necessary to level the subfloor, or to apply an appropriate primer.

> Can I use Pergo vinyl floors in combination with underfloor cooling?

Pergo Vinyl floors can be used in combination with floor cooling systems or floor heating/cooling combination systems. It is however very important to pay careful attention to our guidelines in this respect. All details can be found in the installation instructions in the package or on this website, or ask you dealer for instructions.

> Can I use Pergo vinyl floors in combination with underfloor heating?

Yes, Pergo Vinyl floors can be used with hot water and electric underfloor heating systems embedded in the screed. However, make sure that the floor covering surface does not heat up to more than 27°C, and always use the recommended Pergo underlay if applicable.

Important! Always follow the special guidelines for underfloor heating found in the installation instructions in the package or on this website, or ask you dealer for instructions.

> Can I use Pergo vinyl floors in my bathroom?

Pergo vinyl flooring is 100% waterproof and is suitable for installation in moisture-loaded rooms such as laundry and washrooms where there is no drain in the floor. In bathrooms, showers etc where there is a drain special rules apply for protection against moisture. Pergo vinyl is not suitable for such purposes.

> Do I need any underlay when installing Pergo Vinyl?

For glue down floors an underlay is not needed. You just need to ensure that the subfloor is properly prepared for gluing as described in the installation instructions.

For the floating installation of vinyl floors featuring our easy PerfectFold™ V click system, we recommend the Pergo underlay. This underlay, specially developed for Pergo floors, has a levelling effect and can eliminate the need to apply a levelling compound. Furthermore the underlay provides additional insulation against impact sound as well as greater walking comfort.

MISCELLANEOUS

> Can castor chairs be used on a vinyl floor?

Yes, but we recommend the use of soft castors and/or the use of an appropriate acrylic office mat. This will significantly extend the lifetime of your floor and help to maintain its original beauty much longer.

Note that rubber can permanently damage your Pergo vinyl floor. Therefore, avoid rubber furniture legs, rubber wheels or mats with rubber lining.
